B. David Brent, MD
Dr. Brent is a board-certified ophthalmologist. A native of Pasadena, Texas, he was graduated from Rice University with a degree in biology. After completing his medical training at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio with honors, he completed an internship in internal medicine. Tulane University Medical Center provided the site for a three-year residency in ophthalmology and Dr. Brent served as Chief Resident in his final year. Dr. Brent chose to pursue an additional two years of subspecialty training in diseases and surgery of the retina and vitreous including research in macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. Dr. Brent has a special interest in LASIK and has received training in excimer laser at the prestigious Wilmer Eye Institute of the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.
Dr. Brent is also on the staff of the Retina Research Center Austin as an investigator in studies for new treatments for macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.
Marilyn McCluskey, MD
Dr. McCluskey is a board-certified ophthalmologist. She was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and grew up in a small town in Mississippi. Dr. McCluskey obtained her M.D. degree from the University of Mississippi where she graduated with honors. Following an internship at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, she completed a three-year residency program in Ophthalmology at the Eye Foundation Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. She has been a resident of Austin since 1989. She has a special interest in glaucoma, lid surgery, and LASIK.
Aaron, Certified Optician (ABOC)
Aaron joined the Premier Eye Care, PA team in 2019 as an Optician and Patient Care Coordinator to assist in the office wherever needed. Aaron has an extensive background in the eyecare industry having opened and managed an Optometry practice from the ground up for 11 years. Prior to his work life in the Eyecare Industry, Aaron worked in Retail Management for 5 years after graduating from Texas A&M University with a B.S. in Agricultural Economics, along with a Minor in Business Administration. Aaron is also a graduate of Essilor’s Management Development Program and has recently earned his ABO Certification. He enjoys the application of both his optical and clinical knowledge in patient education so that the patients of Premier Eye Care, PA get the most out of every visit to our clinic. Outside of work, Aaron enjoys sports and outdoor activities with his children. Aaron looks forward to assisting you and enhancing your next experience at Premier Eye Care, PA!
Andy, Certified Optician (ABOC)
Andy’s start in the Optical Industry began with his first position in 1984 manufacturing optical components for Military Application with Texas Instruments in the Dallas Ft. Worth area. After 3 years there, he transferred to the Austin area and began his work in the ophthalmic industry working for a large Ophthalmic company opening 1-hour optical labs throughout central Texas. He managed several 1-hour optical stores during that time. In 1996, he was hired by the doctors at Premier Eye Care, PA to assist in establishing their practice at the Seton Northwest Hospital complex where he has then spent the last 24 years. Andy is also an accomplished Lapidary Artist, Bench Jeweler, and SilverSmith as well as an ABO Certified Optician with over 36 years of consistent optical experience.
Diane, Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT)
Diane is a third-generation Austinite. After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree from UT – Austin, she began her career working for an Ophthalmologist. She became a Certified Ophthalmic Technician over 30 years ago and has worked in the field for over 38 years. She enjoys visiting the Texas Hill Country on weekends and vacationing with her husband at the National Parks every year.
Doris, Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT)
Doris has worked with Dr. Brent and Dr. McCluskey for over 25 years. She is a certified ophthalmic technician and loves working with the patients of Premier Eye Care, PA. She also has many duties in the practice in addition to patient care. Prior to coming to Austin from Dallas, she worked for an Ophthalmologist there for several years. She is a wife and proud mother of three boys. Her hobbies include sewing, painting, and crafting.
Jeanette, Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT)
Jeanette was born and raised in Brownsville, Texas, and moved to Austin in 1981 to study at the University of Texas. She graduated in 1985 with a degree in Biology, always with the ambition to work in health care. In 1987, she began her career in ophthalmology earning ophthalmic assistant certification in 1989 and then technician level certification in 1992. She continued her ophthalmic education by joining a retinal group in Austin, where she was able to add to her technical skills by including ophthalmic photography, angiography, and ultrasonography.
In September of 2000, she was fortunate to join Premier Eye Care, PA where she strives to provide the quality of care that our patients have come to expect. Jeanette is bilingual and ready to facilitate exams for our Spanish speaking patients. When not working, Jeanette enjoys camping, hiking, and bike riding with her husband, Chris.
June was born and raised in Austin, Tx. She has worked with Dr. Brent and Dr. McCluskey for 13 years. She has many different responsibilities at Premier Eye Care, PA including checkout, scheduling, and answering patient’s billing inquiries. She is the proud mother of one daughter and JuJu to two grandbabies. In her free time, she loves to cook, travel, and spend time with her sweet grandbabies.
Olivia Tijerina has worked with Dr. Brent and Dr. McCluskey for more than 24 years. She has had many responsibilities at Premier Eye Care, PA including front desk, office manager, and insurance coordinator. Olivia is married and the proud mother of 3 handsome boys. She spends many hours outside of work supporting her boys at the baseball fields. She loves animals and her boys participate in the FFA. She is the friendly face you see when you come in for your appointment. She is dedicated and committed to making your visit a pleasant one.
Wendy, Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA)
Wendy joined Premier Eye Care, PA in 2014 and has been working in Ophthalmology for 21+ yrs (since 1999). Wendy enjoys helping patients achieve better vision. Her experience includes assisting in direct patient eye care/exams, minor surgical procedures in the office, diagnostic testing, and laser procedures. In the past, Wendy worked in the OR for cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery, LASIK/PRK, blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), and pterygium removals. Wendy loves spending time with her family, at church, traveling, watching movies, pilates, and being outdoors.
